Gasoline Engine Options and Fuel Efficiency
In total, the 2020 Ford Fusion offers three engines powered solely by gasoline. The standard engine is the 2.5L Duratec® I-4 engine with 175 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, the estimated fuel economy is 21 city MPG and 31 highway MPG.
The first available option for the Ford Fusion is the 1.5L EcoBoost® engine with Auto Start-Stop Technology. Producing 181 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque, this engine is a great option if you are looking for a bit more power. Combined with the innovative Auto Start-Stop Technology and front-wheel drive, the fuel economy with this engine is 23 city MPG and 34 highway MPG.
The second available gasoline engine is the 2.0L EcoBoost® engine producing 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. Included standard with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) Fusion models, the fuel economy with this powerhouse and AWD is 20 city MPG and 29 highway MPG. If you choose to keep front-wheel drive (FWD), the fuel economy of this engine is 21 city MPG and 31 highway MPG.
Hybrid Engine Options and Fuel Efficiency
Standard in both Fusion Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid models, the 2.0L i-VCT Atkinson-cycle hybrid engine and 88kW electric motor produce plenty of power while cutting back on fuel. The engine alone produces 141 horsepower and 129 lb-ft of torque. Combined with the electric motor, you can expect your horsepower to reach 188.
Fuel economy will vary depending on whether you choose the hybrid or plug-in hybrid model. With the hybrid Fusion, you can enjoy up to 43 city MPG and 41 highway MPG. With the plug-in hybrid, the Fusion offers 109 city MPGe and 97 highway MPGe.
