The 2016 Hyundai Sonata has been updated for the 2016 model year with advances to the structure and performance, as well as interior changes. Smartphone connectivity systems, like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will also come standard on models equipped with either the seven- or eight-inch infotainment display.

One of the biggest changes, however has been to the available safety features. While past years have featured advantages like Forward Collision Warnings, this year the Sonata is also available with Automatic Emergency Braking. With this system, the Sonata sedan will be able to start braking when it senses an imminent crash. This advantage can greatly minimize the severity of an accident, and in some cases can completely avoid one. The 2016 Sonata also comes standard with Traction Control, Tire Pressure Monitoring, and ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Brake Assist, just to name a few.
