A 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine comes standard in the 2020 Chevy Equinox. This engine provides 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. In addition to its power, the engine incorporates Direct Injection and Variable Valve Timing for enhanced fuel efficiency. With front-wheel drive (FWD) and this standard engine, the Equinox offers up to 26 city mpg and 31 highway mpg. Models that use this engine will come with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The available engine is a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine offering 252 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Like the standard option, this engine uses Direct Injection and Variable Valve Timing technology to save some gas. With this engine, the Equinox will offer a 9-speed automatic transmission. Planning on towing? Equip this engine, press the Tow/Haul button, the Equinox will tow up to 3,500 pounds.

Available AWD System

For better performance on a variety of road conditions, the available switchable all-wheel drive (AWD) system on the Equinox helps you stay in control. If the roads are slippery due to rain or snow, switch to AWD for better traction. If AWD is not needed, the system will operate in FWD to maximize your fuel efficiency. This drivetrain is available on the LS, LT, and Premier trim levels.
