Just over a month ago, the 2017 Camaro with the 1LE performance package debuted at the Chicago Auto Show. Now we are getting a look at an even more breathlessly powerful Camaro: the ZL1. Available in coupe or convertible body styles, this vehicle needs no enhancements to take to the track or the highway. 2017 Chevy Camaro ZL1 Release Date
Going on sale later this year in both convertible and coupe configurations, the elegant and fierce 2017 Chevy Camaro ZL1 promises to burn up the track straight from the factory floor.
Powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine, the Camaro ZL1 will carry an estimated 640 horsepower under the hood and be able to accelerate with 640 pound-feet of torque. This sports car will be available with either a six-speed manual transmission with active rev matching or a new ten-speed automatic transmission.
Smooth Handling and Performance
The 2017 Chevy Camaro ZL1 won’t need any extra bells and whistles to be considered track worthy. Rather every inch of this gorgeous vehicle has already been optimized to tackle serious racing. However, that doesn’t mean you can only bring your Camaro ZL1 on the track. This baby also features technology and ride enhancements to deliver a smooth drive on the daily commute or a night on the town.
“The Camaro ZL1 is designed to excel at everything,” said Mark Reuss, executive vice president of Global Product Development, in a recent Chevrolet press release. “It’s a 2+2 coupe offering incredible performance – acceleration, handling and braking – with the highest levels of technology and perfect chassis damping, making it suitable for everyday driving. It will compare well to any sports coupe, at any price and in any setting.”
Features like a stiff, lightweight structure, Magnetic Ride Suspension, an electronic limited-slip differential, and performance Recaro seats allow passenger comfort to be seamlessly combined with performance. Unique grille designs, Performance Traction Management, a Driver Mode Selector, and 20-inch forged aluminum wheels and Brembo brakes also optimize power and driving feel. The 2017 Chevy Camaro ZL1 will also feature the latest connectivity technology.
